What Is PLR?
PLR is an abbreviation for Private Label Rights. This is a type of license where authors giveaway or sell most or all of their rights to the product. This usually means you can modify the content, sell it, resell it, claim authorship etc.
There are many types of PLR products:
- articles and other short written content (email, autoresponders),
- eBooks,
- video,
- audio,
- graphics (templates),
- software.

Private Label Rights (PLR) License
Private Label Rights products usually give the buyer the most freedom, almost like creating your own product. Excluding copyrights you can do almost everything with PLR products: claim authorship, modify it, sell it, resell it, change formats (from text to video or vice versa). And if you change the product significantly you can even claim copyright.
Make Money With PLR
There are many uses for PLR products. We’ve listed a few of the most common.
Website or blog content
You can always use Private Label Rights on your website or blog as posts or articles. Do remember though that if you want to receive any benefit for SEO, you shouldn’t use them as you bought them. Take 10-15 minutes and rewrite them in your own words. This will make the content unique and you’ll be positioned better in search engines.
You can monetize the website with AdSense, affiliate offers or just flip it for profit on Flippa.com or similar sites.
Publish articles to article directories
You can also rewrite the PLR articles you bought and submit them to article directories for backlinks and traffic. Don’t forget to check the terms of use of each article directory as some of them don’t allow rewritten PLR articles.
Create a video or audio product
If the license allows you, one of the best things to do is to change the format of the PLR. For example, read a few articles on your topic and package them as a podcast. You can then give it away or sell it. Another option is creating a screencast. Just open up your favorite presentation software, write a few slides and then post it to video websites (TubeMogul).
For recording screencasts you can use Camtasia (paid) or CamStudio (free).
